We reported preliminary findings that demonstrate the need for NHS commissioners to urgently prioritise routine availability and access to diagnostics and treatments for high-risk myeloma. Our findings, based on a targeted literature search and interviews with UK myeloma clinicians, demonstrated a variation in clinical definition of the criteria used to identify high-risk myeloma. This is despite the BSH good practice paper on diagnosis and initial treatment of transplant-eligible high-risk myeloma patients published in 2024.
