Managing symptoms
As well as treating the myeloma, helping patients manage the complications of myeloma and side effects of treatment are key to improving quality of life both during and between treatments. Module 8 describes how disease and treatment- related symptoms and complications are managed therapeutically and in clinic. The following sections describe how patients can be supported through self-care strategies that protect bone health, reduce pain, prevent infections, preserve kidney function, and address fatigue. Emotional wellbeing, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustments also play a central role. By integrating comprehensive supportive care, the healthcare team and caregivers can help patients maintain independence, resilience, and dignity throughout their journey.
