Summarise the different issues that may affect people living with myeloma and what nurses can do to help patients minimise these and maintain a good quality of life:

• Consider how to sensitively assess the information needs of patients, their families and carers, and how to provide the required information and use inclusive terminology
• How would you approach sensitive topics, for example, relationships, beliefs, values and sexuality
• Think about what advice you can give to patients to promote good quality of life
• Outline self-help strategies for patients, their families and carers to improve their own health and wellbeing, and reduce the risk of complications
• Consider how you would assess the need to involve colleagues from the multidisciplinary team or other organisations to support patients and their families
