BSH/UKMS good practice paper on Diagnosis and initial treatment of transplant-eligible high-risk myeloma patients

The British Society for Haematology (BSH) and UK Myeloma Society (UKMS) have published a Good Practice Paper offering recommendations on the diagnosis and early treatment of transplant-eligible patients with high-risk myeloma. This guidance highlights the need for improved risk stratification at diagnosis, including the use of advanced genetic and molecular testing, and summarises emerging clinical trial evidence supporting intensified treatment approaches for this group.

Patients with high-risk myeloma continue to face poor outcomes under current standard-of-care treatment. This guideline presents a risk-adapted framework, drawing on recent trial data, to support timely diagnosis and early intervention with tailored induction, consolidation and maintenance strategies.
