HM-PRO: A Novel Patient-Reported Outcome Measure in Haematological Malignancy for Use in Clinical Practice

The Haematological Malignancies Patient Reported Outcomes (HM-PRO) measure has been developed to support clinicians and their patients in discussing, addressing, and better recording quality of life issues that are important to those living with haematological malignancies.

As a specific tool tailored for individuals diagnosed with conditions such as myeloma, leukaemia, and lymphoma, the HM-PRO provides a structured framework for capturing the unique experiences and challenges faced by these patients.

The accompanying questionnaire is designed to gather insights from patients regarding how their disease condition and/or treatment is affecting their daily life. It consists of two sections:

  • Part A focuses on various aspects of daily activities, exploring how the condition impacts patients’ routines and social interactions.
  • Part B addresses the symptoms experienced as a result of the condition and the treatments received, allowing patients to detail the types and severity of symptoms they encounter.

Healthcare professionals can expect that this questionnaire will provide valuable data on patient experiences, enabling a more comprehensive understanding of the quality of life issues that matter most to individuals with haematological malignancies. By analysing these insights, clinicians can enhance their patient care strategies and ensure that treatment approaches are tailored to meet the specific needs of their patients.
