Clinical Service Excellence Programme (CSEP) recognising outstanding myeloma care with more awards this summer
The Clinical Service Excellence Programme (CSEP) recognises hospitals’ commitment to raising the bar for myeloma treatment and providing compassionate and individualised patient care. This quarter we accredited onenew hospital, and onehospital successfully achieved reaccreditation.
Around a third of UK hospitals with a myeloma service are now CSEP accredited. Whether you’re a large city teaching hospital or a rural district general, you can apply to join this growing list of accredited hospitals by completing a short CSEP application form, or by emailing the team at CSEP@myeloma.org.uk.
Our aim is to support high quality, patient-focused myeloma care wherever patients live, and wherever your hospital is located.
St Bartholmew’s Hospital recently gained first-time accreditation and Hammersmith Hospital demonstrated their ongoing commitment to outstanding myeloma care, achieving reaccreditation.
St Bartholomew’s Hospital (Barts), London

A clear highlight of the myeloma service at St Bartholomew’s is their high level of expertise combined with compassion and respect shown to families, evidenced by excellent patient survey results.
Other impressive aspects of care are the ‘Patient and Family Stem Cell Seminars’ offered to all patients receiving stem cell transplants. Hosted by the CNSs, these sessions include input from physiotherapists, dieticians and psychologists.
The team at Barts are also working hard on inclusivity within clinical trials. The trials team recently hosted an event in a local mosque, to give people an opportunity to discover more about clinical trials and ask questions about taking part.
Hammersmith Hospital, London

Hammersmith Hospital continues to be outstanding in the category of research and clinical trials, with a trial portfolio that offers patients clinical trial options at all stages of disease.
They have a strong commitment to Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) within their Centre for Myeloma Research and are actively working to increase clinical trial participation within the local Black African community.
A further highlight of the service is a regional MGRS MDT which combines the expertise of both haematology and renal specialists to discuss management of challenging cases and provide expertise for national guidelines.
