Share your experience of current MGUS monitoring practice in England
Healthcare professionals involved in monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) monitoring in England are invited to share their experience through a new Myeloma UK survey.
MGUS monitoring is not delivered consistently across England. While some areas have established pathways and dedicated services, others face significant challenges in providing ongoing monitoring and follow-up.
Help shape the future of MGUS monitoring in the UK
In Autumn 2025, Myeloma UK published its landmark Precursor Framework – An Invisible Presence. The report outlined nine recommendations to transform research, services and support for people with precursor conditions and ultimately lead the way to prevention and cure in myeloma.
This marks the first step in Myeloma UK’s commitment to leading change through the development of a new national model for the management and monitoring of MGUS designed with flexibility to be adapted to local needs across the UK.
Together with a dedicated working group of healthcare professionals and lived experience representatives, Sarah Galley, Senior Innovation and Implementation Officer at Myeloma UK, is seeking your support to build an evidence base of current MGUS monitoring practices across England. The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
Current picture
We know MGUS monitoring varies widely across England. While some areas have funded services and established pathways, others lack commissioned monitoring, creating gaps in care. This can increase patient anxiety, clinician concern, and geographic inequalities in access to monitoring.
How can you help?
If you are a general practitioner, consultant haematologist, clinical nurse specialist, laboratory scientist or another healthcare professional with knowledge of local MGUS monitoring practice in England, we’d like to hear from you.
Your responses will help us:
- Better understand existing practices and variations.
- Identify service challenges and inform opportunities for improvement.
- Inform the development of a nationally commissioned MGUS monitoring service.
Healthcare professionals who practise in England are invited to participate by 5pm on Friday 11 September 2026. Please contact earlydiagnosis@myeloma.org.uk if you have any queries regarding the survey.
Share the survey with your colleagues to help us build the strongest possible evidence base.
Together we will drive forward service improvement and help shape the future of MGUS monitoring in England.
