Senior Staff Nurse Jenny Jacob is stepping out of her comfort zone for a cause close to her heart. Based in the haematology ward at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, Jenny will be Zipsliding the Clyde on 31 August alongside our Edinburgh Myeloma Fundraising Group to raise awareness and much needed funds.

Having witnessed first-hand the impact myeloma has on her patients and their families, Jenny was keen to go further to help.  She contacted Myeloma UK to volunteer her time to support the vital work that we do.  Her timing couldn’t have been better, as Linzi Gilroy, our Community Fundraiser for Scotland, was in the process of setting up an Edinburgh Fundraising Group to raise awareness and funds locally.  Jenny became a member of the Fundraising Group, and together they had the exciting task of choosing a launch event for the group, ultimately deciding to take part in the Zipslide the Clyde challenge.

Jenny said:

“Having worked at the Western General Hospital for 12 plus years, I have supported many people with myeloma, from diagnosis through to treatment, remissions, relapses and it is a true privilege to care for, to be with, to listen to, and give to each special, brave strong individual and their loved ones.

If I think of what I and our group will achieve in August 2025, I feel both petrified as the challenge set is terrifying but also excited to highlight to many, Myeloma UK and its greatness by proudly sliding along in our orange Myeloma UK T-shirts, not to overlook raising money. This is an opportunity I am so pleased to be a part of.”
