This year’s International Myeloma Society (IMS) Annual Meeting in Toronto, Canada (17–20 September) will bring together global myeloma experts to explore new and evolving research. The programme will spotlight developments in understanding of precursor conditions, relapse management, immunotherapy and supportive care, alongside critical conversations about the current challenges in treatment and service delivery.

For Myeloma UK and our colleagues across the community, IMS is an opportunity to share expertise internationally and to reflect on how global developments can be applied within NHS services and pathways.

Learning, sharing, leading: Myeloma UK at IMS

Myeloma UK is committed to driving change that matters in myeloma care. Through attending leading international conferences such as IMS, we ensure that our understanding of myeloma is at the cutting edge of innovation, have an opportunity to share our knowledge and expertise and connect with colleagues.

This year at IMS we will be:

  • Presenting: Monica Morris, our Clinical Practice Programme Manager, will present a poster championing innovation to streamline complex treatment pathways for clinicians and patients – the MyeTxScheduler.
  • Stewarding learning: Monica will also co-chair a session within the Nursing and Allied Health Symposium, supporting clinical colleagues in broadening knowledge to support people living with myeloma across the world.
  • Discovering: Expanding our knowledge and learning, from treatment innovations and detecting precursors to international models for patient management and supportive care.
  • Connecting: IMS offers an opportunity to connect with global peers and could lead to collaborations for patient benefit.

We know many of you are attending too and will be looking forward to exploring the knowledge on offer, sharing your own expertise and connecting with colleagues about evolving myeloma treatment, practice and more.

Putting supportive care on the agenda

At this year’s meeting, the Nursing and Allied Health Symposium will focus on enhanced supportive care. Sessions will explore practical ways to improve access, reduce variation and deliver evidence-based interventions that support people living with myeloma.

Monica will co-chair one of the sessions and close the symposium by reflecting on key takeaways for practice.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Monica said:

“The Nursing and Allied Health Symposium is always a highlight at IMS. It is an opportunity to recognise the vital contribution of nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals to myeloma care. I am looking forward to exploring practical ways we can improve supportive care, and to sharing UK experiences with colleagues internationally.”

Looking ahead to IMS 2026 – coming to Glasgow

Next year, IMS will take place here in the UK, with Glasgow confirmed as the host city from 23–26 September 2026.

This will be the first time IMS has been hosted in the UK and it represents a unique opportunity for the UK myeloma community to showcase our leadership in myeloma research, treatment and care – and to connect with international colleagues on home ground.

Myeloma UK are looking forward to being part of this landmark event and we hope to see you there. Planning to attend? Keep an eye on the HCP Hub to find out how to connect with us and for featured content opportunities to amplify the insights and innovations of your work at IMS.
